Top 10 Most Rewatched Films of the 2010s So Far

Inception (2010)

Here's my list of films I've watched the most in the first few years of this decade. Some of the titles surprised me, but rewatchable films aren't always the best of the year. Note: The top 8 films are ones I've watched 5 times, ranked by preference. The bottom two (and honorable mentions) are films I've seen 4 times.

Honorable Mentions:

Django Unchained, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Parts 1 and 2, Inception, Moneyball, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, Shutter Island, and Skyfall

10. Drive (2011)

9. The Artist (2011)

8. Tamara Drewe (2010)

7. Pitch Perfect (2012)

6. Midnight in Paris (2011)

5. The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

4. Les Misérables (2012)

3. The American (2010)

2. Black Swan (2010)

1. Hugo (2011)

  1. I had no idea you were such a big fan of The American! I really enjoyed that film, and was bummed when it was so poorly received (by audiences, anyway). I love when people talk about that movie.

    1. Man, I LOVE that film! I saw it 3 times in the theater. It's also in my top 5 of 2010, and I gave Clooney a Best Actor win for his brilliant work. For me, it's easily one of the most underrated films in recent memory.

  2. The American is amazing. A recent watch of Black Swan made me wish I could revoke some of the Fisti attention I gave it, especially in Best Director. That movie is too silly for its own good :-P

    1. Woo hoo! More love for The American. :) Haha, sorry Black Swan doesn't hold up for you. I can see why it might be too silly, but I just think the whole film is wonderfully crafted. Also, I think it hurts the film if you don't like Portman's performance. ;)

    2. Yeah...I like Portman but don't find her anything special. As you saw with the Fistis...I have at least 12 other actresses I rank above her :-P

    3. Yep. The film didn't have much of a chance with her performance ranked that low. :)

  3. Ha, never would have pegged you as a Pitch Perfect fan!

  4. I knew about Pitch Perfect but Tamara Drew too? Man, you are really exposing another side of you. :)

I love most of the films here though I have not seen most of them more than twice. Only one I have seen multiple times is Inception but that's my all-time favourite. So...

    1. Haha. Tamara Drewe is right up there with A Good Year for me. They're both light and fun rom-coms shot in beautiful locations. I love the scores of those films too. Gotta have guilty pleasures, right? ;)

Twice is a good amount for most of these. I'm surprised that I haven't seen Inception more than four times, though.

  5. Good call on Black Swan and Inception, both I've seen 2 or 3 times. I would also add Another Year (2010), which I loved on rewatch.
In almost every review of Upstream Color I've read, the writers say "I need to rewatch that", so that could be a candidate?
Going to check out The American as soon as possible!

    1. I really need to rewatch Another Year, as I loved it when I first saw it.

Yeah, Upstream Color is one I'll rewatch, but I'm not sure if I'll watch it as much as other films on this list.

Hope I didn't raise your expectations too much, but I think The American is a wonderful film. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on it.

  6. Strangely, I've re-watched Up In The Air quite a bit. I just love that movie.

    1. Nice choice. That's a very rewatchable film.

  7. Nice list, Josh, though I haven't seen a few of these. You like The American? Some of my friends said it's incredibly boring. I agree about Midnight in Paris though, I've rewatched that a couple of times and even bought the BD! Haven't seen TDKR again since its theatrical release but I've seen Batman Begins and TDK repeatedly :D

    1. Well, The American's pacing is slow and deliberate, which might bother some viewers. I love Midnight in Paris so much! That's a great one to have on Blu-ray. I think I've actually watched TDKR and Batman Begins more than The Dark Knight. :)

  8. Great post! I find Hugo rewatchable too. I love the way it captures the amazement and wonder people must have felt enjoying early cinema.

    1. Thanks! I love that about Hugo as well. It's so much fun, and the nostalgic atmosphere is thoroughly entertaining.
